Let the second week of Blogtember begin!
If you missed last weeks posts, feel free to catch up now!
Currently. All things going on in the mix of life.
Who else loves a good day in the life post? Its kind of fun to get a glimpse into the way someone lives their life, day-to-day. Or in this case, hour to hour. This post almost didn’t happen because when I woke up this morning I completely forgot that I was supposed to be documenting my day and let a good four hours slip by. It’s okay though. I recovered and just decided to let you into 12 hours of my day instead. Plus, you didn’t miss much. Cranky kids, cranky mommy. Coffee. Breakfast. A run that gave me shin splints. Eh.
Sundays around our house usually start out pretty low-key. We take our time getting ready for the day but by about 10am(when I started the documentation) things were starting to pick up.
I logged into the computer for a few minutes to check out the Target weekly ad and then found my way over to the blog to get this post semi-started.
Next up was laundry. There is always laundry to be done at my house. Always. As a matter of fact, these towels had to take a “freshen up” run through the dryer because they had been sitting there since last night. Does anyone else ever have to re-wash the same load of laundry or run it through the dryer multiple times because you keep forgetting about it? It’s a familiar event in our house.
Once the laundry was caught up, I headed into the kitchen to prep our dinner for the day. It was super simple since I had planned a crock pot meal. Chop some veggies, throw in come chicken and a few other ingredients and let it cook on low for six hours. Done!!
After making myself look presentable to the rest of the world, I headed out to run a few errands. TJ Maxx was my first stop.
I was looking for some throw pillows and possibly some Fall decor but I decided to take a quick detour into the clothing department. I found a pair of Seven for All Mankind jeans(my favorite) that I thought were a nice Fall color so I decided to try them on. I then proceeded to laugh at myself because I seriously looked like a scarecrow. Not flattering. At ALL! I ended up leaving empty-handed on this trip. Maybe next time.
My husband talked me into playing a fantasy football type thing this year so while I was out and about, I checked my Draft Kings app to see how I was doing. At the time, it wasn’t looking too shabby but in the end, I lost all of my money. Good thing I only bet a quarter!
I was on a mission to find some pretty mums to put on my front porch but I wasn’t able to find many at all. After being disappointed at both Lowe’s and Home Depot, I gave up for the day. I did spot a super cute indoor plant that I am contemplating going back for. I really want some plants in my house but I have a thumb of death. Every plant I have ever bought or received has died a slow(or not so slow) death.
Since the Texans won their game today and Lane and I were matching we took a took a picture to celebrate. By the way, I taught him this week to say “cheeeeese” when taking a picture and it’s possibly the cutest thing ever.
Time to bake! There is something about the Fall season that puts me in the mood to bake. Stew going in the crock pot and my favorite peanut butter banana blender muffins going in the oven. Nevermind that it was in the 90’s outside! I can’t do much in the kitchen these days without my little helper right beside me. Either this kid is going to grow up to be a chef or a really helpful husband because there is nothing he loves more than “cookin”.
Dinners ready! I’ll just say it. I’m pretty sure that there is no way to dress up a bowl of stew to make it look appetizing. Am I right? It may look like a something that has gone through the garbage disposal but let me tell ya, it was incredible. This creamy chicken stew, y’all! I was so tempted to lick my bowl at the end but you know, someone has to teach my children how to be somewhat civilized.
We have a deal in our house where if I cook, Lance cleans. We both got out pretty lucky since there wasn’t a whole lot of either one that had to be done. Well, technically, I did end up cleaning…..a toddler. Lane loves his tubby time and starts asking for it just as soon as he is finished eating. It also signals that it’s time to start winding down for the day. Bath, bottle(that’s a subject for another day), snuggles, books and singing.
Once Lane was in bed, it was time to turn my attention to my big kids. Liam lucked out in school this year and has no homework(!!!!!) other than reading for 15 minutes every night. Normally, I wouldn’t make him read on a Sunday but he’s started a new book that he is really enjoying so I didn’t have to twist his arm at all. As a matter of fact, I had to argue with him to stop reading so that he would get plenty of sleep. It’s not always been like this so it is a good problem to have, that’s for sure!
I also tucked Camryn into bed but I didn’t take a picture because really, I would have needed a video. She is teaching me a dance that seems to be a combination of allll the whips and nae nae’s and dabs and what have you. I definitely haven’t been “cool mom” lately(preteen attitude, anyone) so it was fun to just let loose with her for a bit.
And now, here I sit with a glass of wine, finishing up this post. Currently, it’s 9:31pm so I’m gonna call it close enough to 10pm!
Once I finish here, I’m going to catch up on the latest episode of Big Brother and call it a night!
What is your favorite thing about Sunday?
