A couple of months ago, I decided that it was time for me to get out of a rut. You know, the wearing pajamas and workout clothes more often than not kind of rut.
As a stay at home mom, it can be so easy to not get “dressed” for the day. Many times my day consists of nothing more than cleaning my house(all day err’ day and it is still never super clean) and playing with a toddler. Sure, I have to pick my big kids up from school but no one sees what I’m wearing while in the car. I noticed however, on the days that I did take 15 minutes to put on a touch of makeup and a cute outfit, I felt 10x’s better about myself! I was also more productive because let’s be honest, when you are wearing “comfies” all day, it kind of sends the signal to the brain to be a little lazy. At least it does for me. Comfies=downtime! Now, I’m not saying I’m going to give those days up completely but maybe limit those to one or two days per week instead of the other way around.
Of course, if you are going to dress in comfy clothes, these get are the ones to have!
Looking for inspiration on outfit ideas, I hit up Pinterest and Instagram and found alllll of the cute things. So many momma’s out there had already broken out of the frumpy mom stage and man, were they doing it well! A little too well for my pocketbook.
My stay at home mom budget doesn’t allow me to spend $100 on a sweater and even if it did, I’m still not sure that buying super pricey clothing is my thing. Don’t get me wrong, all the love to the ladies who do but if I had to choose between buying expensive designer clothes and other things…..like travel, pack my suitcase, please!
Then I got to thinking, while social media may seem to be full of privileged moms, I have a feeling that more than likely, the majority of them are like me. Living on a budget but still wanting to look cute and feel good about themselves. (Just for the record, I KNOW that I am still more privileged than many, many people out there and I want to make that clear. I may not be buying all the $$$ pricey clothes but I am definitely not doing without. )
While I may not be a fashion blogger(seriously, y’all, not even close) I thought it might be fun to share what I find with y’all here on the blog. I even started a page on here called, “The Look for Less“. Basically, it’s just a place for me to post all of my budget friendly finds(affiliate links) that you may be interested in purchasing as well, or simply gaining inspiration from. All of the looks(at least 90% of them) will come from places like Target, TJMaxx, Old Navy, Walmart and other price friendly stores. It’s rare that you will find an item over $50 but you can bet that most pieces will be under $35.
Can you believe this camo shirt is a Walmart find!!
Most of my looks will consist of the “basics”. Jeans, t-shirts, button down flannels, cardigans and a few cute accessories thrown in to complete the look. While looking put together is important, comfort is a close second. While something may look cute on, if it has me feeling self-conscious or keeps me from performing my mom duties, it’s coming off and going into the closet to never been seen again and well, that is NOT smart style!
I’m all about the basics! Cute AND comfy!
To see my looks, click on over to my “Look for Less” page or follow me on Instagram and Facebook where I not only post my personal outfits but also awesome deals that can be found at my fave stores and on Amazon!
Now come on momma, go get dressed and let’s see that stylish, budget friendly outfit!
