When I read the title of this post, I think about a momma who loves. You know, taking care of her precious children, kissing a skinned up knee, soothing hurt feelings and all of the things that go into being a mom. It’s the love, as a mom that we constantly give to others.
However, as I am writing this post, it is a completely different thought that comes to mind. It’s about all of the momma’s that need love. More specifically, self-love. It’s learning that self-care is essential to being our best selves. That taking a “time out” to be more than a mom is so very important for our well-being. It’s putting on that pair of jeans that make your tush look insanely good, buying a pair of undies that makes you feel super sexy, FOR YOU(and no one else), locking the bathroom door and indulging in a glass of wine and a hot bath, going for a three-mile run with NO jogging stroller. It’s finding the time to do something for yourself. That’s what I like to call “momma love“.
It’s encouraging a new mom who desperately needs to be told that she is doing just fine. It’s stopping by and running the vacuum for her and telling her to high tale it to the bathroom for a shower in peace. It’s not judging the mom who lets her child have a lollipop before breakfast(or as breakfast.) It’s offering to watch a friends high maintenance children so she can have a much-needed date night with her husband( Any takers out there? ;-). It’s simply being there when a mom needs to vent, to talk or to simply have fun. It’s about giving love to fellow momma’s when they need it, which lets be honest is all. of. the. time!
One of the reasons I decided to get back into blogging was because I wanted something for myself. The idea started out as just a hobby, an outlet for me to share in all of the topics that interest me. Affordable fashion, fitness, yummy(and somewhat healthy) food. Ups and downs as a wife and mother. You know, life.
Over the last few weeks, however, the wheels have started spinning around in this brain of mine and while yes, it is still going to be an enjoyable hobby for me, I want to make it more than that. I want to create a community of women who feel the same way. Who can relate to being more than “just a mom”. Who feel good about themselves because they are freaking awesome and deserve to know it!
Another goal is to show you that “momma love” is more than possible without spending a lot of money or any at all. As a stay at home mom to three kids, I know all about a budget. I also know that it can hold a lot of ladies back when it comes to doing for themselves. I also know….
You can get fit at home.
You can dress fashionably for very affordable prices.
You can date your husband without breaking the bank.
You can cook healthy meals without a Whole Foods budget.
It’s so very possible and I’m going to show you how as I experience it myself. So, who is on board for some momma love?
What are some ways that you indulge in self-care?
Leave me a comment with something that you love about yourself! It can be a physical quality, a personality trait…anything at all! Let’s hear it!!
