Look who turns 10, today!
|Getting in my morning snuggles with this 10 year old!!|
I am mom to a ten year old. A preteen. How in the heck did this happen?
Although, if I’m being completely honest, it has been on the horizon for a while and Camryn has definitely had the attitude to prove it! Don’t get me wrong, she is a great kid but like any other, she has her moments. Oh, does she have her moments!
Today though, we focus on the good because she has plenty of that, too! This girl has a heart of gold. She has a soft spot for her brothers, any and all animals, and she loves babies and little kids. We cannot pass a homeless person without her asking to help them. She is a person who feels things deeply but may not show it outwardly. She’s a lot like me in that way!
This past weekend was all about celebrating my sweet, spunky, and sassy girl!
On Friday Camryn had her best friend from birth(okay, she was a week old when they met!) over for a sleepover.
I have a feeling they will be best friends for life! The next morning we went to breakfast at IHOP because that is her favorite.
Late Saturday afternoon, we met up with family for a birthday dinner at The Melting Pot. Camryn loves to watch YouTube and learned about the restaurant from one of the “shows” that she watches.
She was all about the cheese fondue but when it came to the main course, that was another story. She’s not a big meat eater as is and then seeing it come out raw kind of turned her off to it. That’s okay though because she just settled in and waited for dessert to arrive. I’m thinking we could have started and ended with dessert and been alllll good!
The child made out like a bandit on birthday money and since we were heading to the American Girl Doll store the next day she knew exactly what to spend it on!
I don’t even know what to say about The American Girl Doll store. Are the dolls beautiful? Yes. Is the store awesome? Yes. Was the food at the Bistro good? Sure was.
I have the hardest time wrapping my head around the prices that they charge for the doll and accessories. The clothes, especially. $24.00 for a pair of doll pajamas and that was one of the cheaper items! I’m pretty sure I don’t spend that much on my own night clothes!
Still, I can see the magic in the place. When I look back at my own childhood and remember how much I loved my dolls, I see that it’s priceless.
Camryn came away from the American Girl Store with the newest Girl of the Year, Grace Thomas and some clothing and accessories to go with her.
She followed the perfect day up with a sleepover with two of her closest friends. That included a night of swimming and playing dolls along with a side of drama. Because when there are multiple children at a sleepover there is always drama. I even remember it from my days as a kid. In the end though, everything was A-OK and lots of fun was had!
I think it’s safe to say that birthday number 1-0 but a big success!!
